Terry Koberstein did a DNA autosomal test and got a link to another individual whose only common name on our respective trees was Koberstein.
I feel this is very good evidence we are related through that name.
Here are the generations for each line.
| Birth - Death | DNA Matched line (5-8 cousin) | Ludwig Line | Birth - Death | |
| Gen 1 | 1948 - Living | anonomous | Terry Koberstein | 1948 - Living |
| Gen 2 | 1921-2008 | anonomous | Orin Koberstein | 1924 - 1951 |
| Gen 3 | 1900-1974 | anonomous | Albert Koberstein | 1882 - 1978 |
| Gen 4 | 1856 - 1948 | anonomous | Ludwig Koberstein Jr. | 1846 - 1925 |
| Gen 5 | 1830 - 1898 | anonomous | Ludwig Koberstein Sr. | 1818 - 1907 |
| Gen 6 | 1788 - 1866 | Mary Coverstone | Christoph Koberstein | 1775 - 1848 |
| Gen 7 | 1762 - 1832 | Jacob Coverstone | ||
| Gen 8 | 1726 - | Hans Georg Koberstein | ||
| Gen 9 | 1701 - 1750 | Hans Jacob Koberstein | possible brother of Hans Jacob | |
| Gen 10 | 1660 - | Adam Friedrich Von Kopperstein | possible common root |
From this analysis it appears I would have to extend my Koberstein back three generations to the possible common root (Adam Friedrich Von Kopperstein).
Furthermore this means the Ludwig Koberstein line (my line) will be back in the Rhineland part of Germany in three generations.
This Coverston/Koberstein/Kopperstein is the line that immigrated as part of the Palintine (Pennsylvania Dutch) immigration in the mid 1700's.
Wikipedia gives a history of this immigration group.
