Cape Breton University: 18 Egyptian Students Coming to CBU from Associate Campus in Cairo From June 10 to June 19, CBU will host 18 Egyptian students and their supervisor Tiffany Koberstein, from CBU's associate campus in Cairo, Egypt. Although these Canadian International College (CIC) students are here as part of a cultural visit, a number of them will be attending CBU this fall with a group of over 30 students as they transfer from CIC to complete their degrees. "CIC is one of the largest academic partnership programs in Canada," notes Dr. Ken MacLeod, Director of International Programs and Partnerships at CBU and President of LearnCorp International."Currently there are close to 1,000 students at the CIC campus." The group studying at CBU this fall will be the first. During the visit to CBU, the students will take part in various academic and cultural events. These include an opening ceremony presentation on June 11, where the CIC students will give a presentation about their campus. Wednesday, June 13 is designated as an academic day giving the students a chance to meet various deans, international student advisors and tour the campus Student Service Centre. The closing ceremony lunch is on June 18. The students will stay in residence at CBU while they are here and experience a number of Island wide activities such as a walking tour of Sydney, sailing in Baddeck, visit to the Fortress of Louisbourg, Two Rivers Wildlife Park, and a Lebanese lunch/presentation at the Cedars Club in Sydney.
