WADESVILLE — Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who died Monday evening after an accident along a Posey County highway southeast of Wadesville.

Kenneth Koberstein, 42, Evansville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident reported at 6:36 p.m. on State Road 66 near Section Line Road, according to Indiana State Police.

Motorists traveling on the highway stopped when they observed a Honda motorcycle in a field, police said. When they approached the motorcycle, they observed Koberstein in the ditch between the roadway and the bike.

A preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was westbound on State Road 66 when, for an unknown reason, it left the highway 1,700 feet east of Section Line Road. The motorcycle stopped in a field on the north side of the highway, approximately 25 feet from the roadway.

Koberstein, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Posey County Coroner’s Office.

At this time, police said, investigating officers do not have any witnesses to the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed it is encouraged to contact state police at 812-867-2079.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.

The Posey County Sheriff’s Department also assisted.
