7. Raymond Arthur KOBERSTEIN

RAYMOND ARTHUR KOBERSTEIN

Raymond Arthur Koberstein was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on September 20, 1967 to Art and Irma Koberstein. He passed away April 23, 2020 at Health Sciences Centre after a long battle with cardiac issues.
He will be missed by his parents; his younger brother Leonard James; as well as many friends and relatives.
Raymond was blessed with the gift of music until a stroke in 2009 robbed him of his livelihood. He was in and out of the hospital for many years, before he succumbed to his illness.
Due to the Coronavirus situation, a celebration of Raymond's life will be held at a later date.

12. Elfriede KOBERSTEIN

ELFIEDE WITTENBERG

On October 30, 2012 Elfriede (Frieda) Wittenberg was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour.

She was predeceased by her parents Rudolf & Leokadia Koberstein, sister Lydia Sereda & daughter Debbie McDonald.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 66 years William (Willie); her children Herb (Marilyn), Eric (Glennis) & Betty-Ann; son-in-law Graham McDonald; grandchildren Adrian (Kim), Brad (MacKenzie), Ian (Lauren), Laura, Heather (Mike), Kendall and Jayden; great grandchildren Emerson, Fletcher, Ryan & Rylyn; brothers Walter Koberstein (Taisa), Art Koberstein (Irma); sisters Holdina Kaplun (Phil) & Erika Kelbert (Wally); and other extended family.

Frieda was born in Puchawa, Poland on August 7, 1924, the second oldest of 6 children. On profession of her faith in Jesus Christ, she was baptized at the age of 14. Church was always an important part of her life, and this is where she met Willie. They were married on Nov. 11, 1945. They immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948 where they raised their 4 children. She was a person of strong faith and a warrior of prayer. She loved her family and devoted her life to being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Oma will forever be remembered as “the best cook in the world.” She loved to sing and was still singing in her hospital bed up until her last moments.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Mission Baptist Church India Mission, 771 Sargent Avenue, or a charity of your choice


William WITTENBERG

On June 23, 2016 William Wittenberg was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He was predeceased by his wife Elfriede Wittenberg, daughter Debbie McDonald, parents Edward and Emelia Wittenberg; brothers Fred, Lou and Emil; and sister Olga.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his children Herb (Marilyn), Eric (Glennis) and Betty Ann; son-in-law Graham McDonald; grandchildren Adrian (Kim), Brad (MacKenzie), Ian (Lauren), Laura, Heather (Mike), Kendall and Jayden; great grandchildren Rylyn and Aria; Emerson, Fletcher and Callahan; Ryan, Nathan, Allison and Kristen; and Tyler.

William was born in Romak, Poland on September 5, 1922, the youngest of five children. Following the second world war he married his childhood sweetheart, Frieda, on November 11, 1945. After suffering through many hardships, they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948 where they raised their four children. He made it a priority to provide for his family so that they would never have to experience what he had gone through. As a result, he worked many long hours to earn, save and build for the future.

He left a legacy of working hard and working smart. He often told his grandchildren "immer denken" (always be thinking).

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
