Hello, out of cyberspace. My name is Terry Koberstein. I am doing research on our unique last name. I am intersted in seeing if you may be able to share in this research.
Hello Terry!
Thank you very much for your info - I'll be glad to be of help, if it's at all possible, as I'm very much interested in history but also very inexperienced in genealogy...
I am currently compiling all information about our name "Koberstein" and have a resource site at:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com:80/homepages/koberstein/koberste.htm
Thanks! I had a look at it the other week, that 's what prompted me to write to you in the first place - I really liked that site!
> I would very much be interested and knowing which line of Kobersteins you are from. If you just told me your parents and grandparents I can probably place you in our extended family.Well, I don't know all the details, but I'll do my best...:
My father's father, Erich Joachim Koberstein, was born in Landsberg/Warthe, which today belongs to Poland and has a different name, on January 25, 1925. He claims not to know himself how many brothers and sisters he has/had... In Autumn 1946 (another detail I can check if you like), he married Hildegard Emmi Tehner, born in Heidelberg, Germany, on November 11, 1928. They have three children altogether, my father being the eldest: His name is Joachim Siegfried Koberstein, born on February 17, 1947 in Helmhof near Neckarbischofsheim, Area Sinsheim, near Heidelberg. On April 6, 1968, he got married to Karin Ingrid Seibt, born on April 1, 1940 in Schneidemuehl (today Pilar in Poland). Their daughter Ute (myself) was born on April 7, 1969. Karin Ingrid Koberstein died on April 27, 1980, and on December 23 of the same year, my father re-married: Margarete Michel, born on February 4, 1938, in Wuppertal. There were no further children in either marriage.
My grandfather's second son, Klaus Gustav, was born on May 5, 1948,equally in Untergimpern near Neckarbischofsheim. He got married about 25 years ago, but our contact with him is very loose, so I'm afraid I'll have to find out about the remaining details at one of our next family gatherings at my grandparents' in May.
My grandfather's daughter, Hannelore Anita, was born on February 24, 1952 in Untergimpern near Neckarbischofsheim. She got married to Karl-Heinz Liptow in 1969 but will soon be divorced. Their only son, Jens, was born in Mannheim on March 12, 1973.
Well, I realize that there are several important details missing, but if you could just make a list of all the things you might want to know, I can take that to my grandmother who is also very much interested in genealogy and will certainly be happy to help me out here... I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you! I'd be happy to hear from you as well, whenever you have a minute to spare. It would be most interesting to find out extactly where on the family tree I belong...
Greetings from Germany,
Ute Koberstein

Hi Terri! After a long long time, I've just been to your Koberstein site again and wanted to send you a small note to let you know that my mother, Karin Ingrid Koberstein, ne Seibt, born on April 1, 1940, first wife of Joachim Siegfried Koberstein, is in fact no longer alive but died on April 27, 1982.
Furthermore, Hannelore Anita Liptow, ne Koberstein, born on February 25, 1952, was finally divorced from Karl-Heinz Liptow in September 1998. Their son, Jens Liptow, is going to get married on Sept. 9 this year.
Also, as far as your map of Europe is concerned, Heidelberg and Untergimpern are very close to each other, and both are close to Mannheim, so if you would like to index my family's geographical location at some stage, Mannheim would probably be the best spot on your map for my grandfather, Erich Joachim Koberstein.
