Municipality of Kobern

Untermosel is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district Mayen-Koblenz, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated along the lower course of the Mosel, south-west of Koblenz. The seat of the municipality is in Kobern-Gondorf.

The Verbandsgemeinde Untermosel consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"):

Alken,Brodenbach,Burgen,Dieblich,Hatzenport,Kobern-Gondorf,Lehmen,Löf,Macken,Niederfell,Nörtershausen,Oberfell,Winningen,Wolken

Kobern is where the earliest Kobern (later to of which one of his decendants took the name of Johann Von Koberstein.
The Kobern name morphed based on the Castle he build in Altenkirchen.

     She married Hans Von Eltz born after 1399 and died December 2, 1480 both at Burg Eltz, Münstermaifeld.
Johann Romilian Von Cobern (Ritter, kurtrierscher Rat) born est 1375 at Kobern and died 1420.
Johann Rumlian Von Cobern born est. 1340 at Kobern and died before 1380.
Rumilian Von Cobern II (Ritter Gobel) born est. 1310 at Kobern and died before 1360.
Romilian Von Cobern I (Gobel) born est. 1280 at Kobern. Here is a link to Rumilian Von Covern II (don't forget to translate to English if needed). I have yet to determine how these Cobern families are linked to the Kobern who changed his name to Koberstein from Altenkirchen.
